Rhinoplasty
A Note From Dr. Michael L. Schwartz
Welcome,
Rhinoplasty is one of the most commonly requested procedures I perform and one that I have special interest in and derive great joy from performing.
Some patients are unhappy with the nose they were born with and some are unhappy with the way aging has changed the appearance of their nose. Some may have had an injury affecting both their appearance and their breathing. No matter the reason, nothing has a greater impact on facial appearance then the size and shape of the nose. Ideally, the nose should harmonize the facial features. When it is out of balance with the rest of the face, it distracts from the overall facial appearance. Unlike in the past when rhinoplasty was thought of as primarily a reductive procedure, contemporary rhinoplasty emphasizes reshaping and preservation of structure, not removal. This results in a long-lasting, natural-looking appearance.
Patients have many questions about what to expect. During your consultation, computer imaging will be used to help communicate how we can achieve your expectations. A detailed plan of what your surgery will involve and answers to all your questions will be provided by my staff and I. What you wish for combined with my abilities will meld together so your eyes shine with joy. I look forward to creating your “new custom nose.”

What Should I Know About Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty is generally an outpatient procedure that can be performed in a hospital, ambulatory surgical facility or an in-office surgical suite. To determine the areas of your nose that will be addressed, your overall facial appearance, proportion and structure, as well as your goals, medical history and ethnicity will be taken into account. The procedure is performed as either “open” or “closed” using general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation depending on your individual needs and what is medically best for you.
Top reasons to consider rhinoplasty
There is a reason why rhinoplasty (or “nose job”) is consistently ranked among the top three most popular cosmetic procedures each year. When performed by someone with the proper training, talent and skill, a rhinoplasty can bring overall balance to your face, and in many cases, also make you look younger.
The art of rhinoplasty involves more than merely making your nose smaller. Your nose needs to look natural and complement all of your facial features with the right size, width and angles. The procedure is highly individualized.
