Your Inner Ear
Did you know that the ears play a major role in daily life and activities? In fact, ears do more than just equip you for hearing, they work in conjunction with the eyes and the balance system, allowing for a sense of stability and location.
If you are experiencing frequent dizziness, oftentimes it is attributed to complications with the inner ear. Your inner ear functions as a GPS device, helping you to balance and position. It helps control your movement and keep you level to the location of the earth—or you would be walking upside down!
Vertigo
When information is not transmitted appropriately from the inner ear to the brain, you may find yourself in a state of vertigo. What is vertigo? Vertigo is a sense of rotation, rocking, or the world spinning, experienced even when someone is perfectly still. Other symptoms that may occur in conjunction with vertigo include:

Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo
At times, tiny particles of crystallized calcium may break off into the inner ear. If these fragments enter the wrong section of the inner ear, it can result in dizzy spells. The good news is that this type of vertigo can be treated by the professionals at Light E.N.T. using a technique called an Epley Maneuver. We can fix this problem at the time of your visit! It is a non-invasive and painless procedure that repositions the crystals out of the semicircular canals.
Migraine Headache
Severe migraine headaches are sometimes classified as vestibular migraines. These do not necessarily occur simultaneously with vertigo and for that reason, it is sometimes difficult to diagnose.
