3. Take measures to stay away from pollen: If you have been spending the day doing yard work, then get the pollen off your skin and out of your hair as soon as you can. Take off your shoes before going into the house, take a shower, and change your clothes as soon as possible.

4. Use an over-the-counter antihistamine: Many doctors recommend a simple medication to help manage allergy symptoms. Most medications today are very effective because they are long lasting and you can take them at any time of the day because they are non-drowsy. If you start taking the medication prior to allergy season, it will be in high gear by the time pollen concerns are the highest.

5. Try using an air conditioner or purifier at night: You spend a great deal of time in your bedroom while sleeping. You need to be sure that your bedroom is free of pollen, dust mites, and mold so you can breathe and sleep soundly.
